It was December 26, 1944 when Rodolfo Clamor Faustino was borne to Jacinta Clamor and Guillermo Faustino in Bo. Bagumbong, Caloocan City. He was the eldest among the brood of five.
After finishing Grade 4, the young Rodolfo stopped going to school to help his parents earned for a living. He gathered “labong” or bamboo shoot and sold to Balintawak Market. At a very young age he was observed to be diligent and focused.
He was 16 years of age when he got married to Remedios Bernal and they were blessed with five children, four boys and an only girl. Years after they ended living with separate lives. Possessing a very macho image, he had another chance of falling in love with another girl with whom he had 2 children.
He enjoyed close relationship with his elder relatives who influenced him much in his political career. At the age of forty-five, his uncle, the late Punong Barangay Mariano Clamor, convinced him to run for Barangay Council. Hesitant at first but later was persuaded to file his candidacy for the position of a Barangay Kagawad. He was elected 1st Barangay Kagawad in 1989. Two years after he was appointed as Punong Barangay when PB Mariano Clamor died of a lingering illness.
It was 1993 when he formally took an oath as the new Punong Barangay of Bagumbong. It was the same year when he fell in love again with this writer whom he considered as his greatest love and the woman behind his remarkable and successful leadership.
He tasted the sweetness of politics when he run for Punong Barangay in 1994 and got a landslide victory. He dedicated his life serving his people with integrity. He didn’t give up on his ambitions to make Bagumbong a haven of peace and progress, and its people united. Structures after structures were built such as Barangay Hall Buildings 1 & 2, Day Care Centers, Barangay Health Center, Botika Ng Barangay, Multi-Purpose Hall in most of the subdivisions, Basketball Courts, roads, waiting sheds, school buildings, Tahanang Mapagpala Center and countless projects for his constituents. He may not reach higher education but Kap Rodolfo Faustino was indeed a very good leader.
In 1997 Barangay Election and his second attempt to run for Barangay Captain nobody opposed him. As an elected official his performance was remarkable. He received the 1997 KAGITINGAN AWARD for MOST OUTSTANDING BARANGAY CAPTAIN OF THE PHILIPPINES by Express Journal and in 1998 another award as THE MOST OUTSTANDING PUBLIC OFFICIAL by Media Writers Association of the Philippines, Inc.
In 2002 Barangay Election Kap Rudy was re-elected for the same position. He worked almost 18 hours a day. The nights were spent in haste because there were big demands of his time. The barangay population had increased a triple high. No man can be as compassionate as Kap Rudy. He had all ears to the needs of his people, that how he’s noted for.
In December 2005, his health condition worsened. He had earlier diagnosed to have been suffering from Diabetes and eventually had complications. No pain and illness would cease him from doing his tasks. Having reached his last term as Punong Barangay and without much ado, he ran and won as Barangay Kagawad in 2007 election. He made efforts to be a good performing Kagawad but his illness deprived him from doing so.
Kagawad Rudy, although suffering from illness, celebrated his last birthday on December 26, 2008 with his family, friends and supporters. Two days after he was brought to the hospital where he spent the rest of his life. Discerning that the "expected time" could come, he met and talked to his loved ones. For the sake of love and care for his constituents he would like to pass on his legacy to his eldest son, Nemesio "Mining" Faustino.
The information of his death in January 21, 2009 came too suddenly that his beloved could hardly accept. He surrendered everything to God. He had a very peaceful moment between life and death… The loved ones who were gathered around his sickbed knew that eternity was before him. He was laid to rest in Serenity Memorial Garden on January 25, 2009 and the rest is History.
